Description
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a rollercoaster of suspense and intrigue, with twists that kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. From the very first chapter, the book has a magnetic pull, as we’re introduced to Avery, an ordinary girl suddenly thrust into a world of wealth, secrets, and riddles. The suspense was nearly unbearable at times—just when I thought I had things figured out, Barnes would throw in a plot twist that turned everything on its head. The mystery of why Avery was chosen as the beneficiary of the massive inheritance, and the complex family dynamics she has to navigate, made for an unpredictable and exhilarating read.
What I particularly love about The Inheritance Games is how Barnes keeps you guessing until the very end. The family’s secrets, the games they play, and the tension between Avery and the Hawthorne heirs make every page feel like a puzzle waiting to be solved. I first read this novel my sophomore year of college. I picked up the novel at Target and quickly was sucked into the novel. I was so obsessed with the novel that I actually ended up also purchasing the audiobook version so I could continue the story while I was walking across campus. The first novel got me hooked and as the rest of the books from the series came out I found myself to devour them all. Even now I continue to read the newest novel in The Inheritance Games world, The Grandest Game.
